Volunteering – a bridge between communities

The project aimed to strengthen social ties and promote inclusion in the Hârșova area (including Vadu Oii and neighboring communes) through the active involvement of volunteers.

The main activities included the organization of community lunches, information sessions on civil rights and freedoms for the Roma community, and socio-cultural events in adjacent communes, all facilitated by a dedicated team of volunteers.

Facilitating community interaction and dialogue in the village of Vadu Oii by successfully organizing 2 community lunches, bringing together an estimated number of 15 participants per event, during the first 2 months of project implementation.
Increasing the level of knowledge and understanding of the rights, freedoms and obligations of citizenship for a group of 10 members of the Roma community in Hârșova, by conducting 2 interactive information sessions adapted to specific needs, within 2 months of the start of the project.
Stimulating active involvement and the spirit of initiative in at least 3 communes around Hârșova by planning and implementing by volunteers a minimum of 3 community events (of a socio-cultural, educational or recreational nature), each event aiming to attract a minimum of 10 participants from the local community, during the 3 months of project.

The project included the organization and implementation of community lunches in Hârșova and neighboring communes, covering the entire logistics from menu planning and procurement, to the mobilization of volunteers for the actual preparation and serving.

Another important component was the implementation of an information session for the Roma community in Hârșova, preceded by a needs analysis and the hiring of an expert to interactively present relevant topics on civil rights and freedoms.

The focus was also on the implementation of a minimum of three socio-cultural events in adjacent communes, identifying partner communes and ensuring the necessary resources, based on detailed plans developed and implemented directly by volunteers.
