Cultural map “Inclusive Hârșova”. Theatre, education and play

The Cultural Map Project “Inclusive Hârșova”. Theatre, Education and Play aimed to facilitate access to education and culture among children and young people in Hârșova. The main objective was to reduce the marginalization of the most vulnerable among them, embrace ethnic and cultural identity and strengthen social ties in a more inclusive community.
The project team was guided by the lenses of inclusivity, intersectionality and participatory approach. Thus, the following activities were carried out:

  • a forum theatre camp;
  • a research on cultural mental maps;
  • organization of non-formal education workshops.

The results of these activities reached the general public in the community and even beyond it through: theatre performances, video materials and exhibitions of cultural maps.
In this way, the project facilitated mutual knowledge and acceptance through the participatory creation and enrichment of the “Inclusive Hârșova” cultural map.

  1. Facilitating access to culture and promoting cultural heritage among young people, through an inclusive, intersectional lens and through diverse products (theater, video, album, exhibition)
  2. Facilitating access to education by carrying out non-formal, artistic, play and play activities for children and young people
  3. Reducing marginalization through education and culture and establishing closer community ties between children and young people of all categories
  4. Facilitating access to culture among the wider community of Hârșova by presenting local cultural products produced within the project
  5. Empowering young people to become potential community leaders and for their better involvement in the co-production of cultural products
  6. Conducting research on young people’s perspectives on the city’s cultural mental maps
  7. Developing capacity organizational H3D by training local human resources (volunteers) to carry out non-formal and artistic education activities
  1. The selection and training of 10 H3D volunteers was carried out through a course for socio-educational animators and a course on creative methods.
  2. 30 children and adolescents were selected (over half from vulnerable groups) and non-formal education workshops were held using the methods assimilated by the volunteers.
  3. 10 young people (14-20 years old, half from vulnerable groups) and 5 support volunteers for the camp were selected.
  4. A mind map research was carried out with the 10 young people from the theater camp, aiming to highlight subjective perceptions of the city, especially from the perspective of vulnerable groups.
  5. A theater performance (based on the skits from the camp) was held within a major community event (e.g. the Hârșova COOLturală Festival).
  6. The exhibition “Hârșova Mind Maps” was organized Inclusive” and the research report was launched, giving young people the opportunity to talk about their experience.
